Deity’s Muse, the Johannesburg-based progressive rock titans release their new EP Lungs Full on Friday 31 May 2019. Produced by Clint Vincent from Australian rock giants Dead Letter Circus. This EP will be the first in an evolving concept, the band plan to release a series of digital EPs over the coming months. Once they are all out, they’ll compile them into a full album and release it on CD and vinyl. It’s immediately clear from the opening riff of first track and single Still in Hiding that the band have grown as both musicians and songwriters since the release of their previous album, 2016’s Convergence.

Since the release of Convergence they have been making an impact on the UK and European scene having played at Euroblast Festival in Germany (October 2017), a 5 show co-headlining UK tour with SÜMER (July 2018) and Bloodstock Festival in the UK (August 2018). They also recently announced that they would be touring the UK in July as main support for prog-metallers Monuments on their Phronesis UK Summer Tour, as well as playing the UK Tech-Fest 2019 and their own headlining show at London’s 229 Venue.

Convergence is the title of the band’s highly anticipated new album and was produced by Dead Letter Circus guitarist Clint Vincent. After a lengthy pre-production phase seeing demos being sent via the internet between South Africa and Clint Vincent’s studio in Australia, the album was recorded in three different locations at the tail-end of 2015. Drums and vocals were recorded in the small town of Klerksdorp in the North West province of South Africa. Guitars and bass were recorded at Deity’s Muse guitarist, Yokim Pillay’s home. Additional guitars and programming were recorded and performed by Clint Vincent at Vin James Music in Brisbane, Australia.

Convergence is a dynamic and anthemic exercise in modern alternative rock boasting superb musical interplay and strong, melodic vocals. The diverse material effortlessly breathes and pulsates between catchy and progressive, high energy groove-rock to atmospheric and textured realms. In July 2017 Deity’s Muse received the ‘Album of the Year’ award for Convergence at the annual South African Metal Music Awards ceremony.
